An evergreen tree growing 5-10m high, black wattle has dark olive-green finely hairy leaves. Pale yellow or cream spherical flowers in large fragrant sprays blooming from August to September. Fruits are dark brown, finely haired pods.
Black wattle has invaded grasslands, competing with and reducing indigenous species, and reducing grazing land for wild and domestic animals.
Evergreen shrub or small tree up to 8m high with hairy branchlets. Light green, thick leaves that are hairy below. White flowers in groups of 1-3 from October to December. Green fruit which turns pale yellow and bitter tasting.
A shrub or small tree up to 4m high covered with whitish-felty hairs. Dull green leaves that are velvety above and white-felty beneath which emit a strong smell when bruised. Purple flowers in compact, terminal clusters on densely felty stalks up to 10cm long all year round. Spherical berries which start off green and turn yellow, in compact terminal clusters. Hairy leaves and stems are a respiratory tract and skin irritant. Unripe fruits are poisonous.
The butterfly orchid tree grows up to 6-10m high. Leaves are thick, deeply divided into two lobes and 100mm long. Flowers are colourful in shades of blotched pink to red striped, as well as cream or purple. They are 80-100mm wide with narrow, non-overlapping petals and three fertile stamens. The fruits consist of green elongated pods which turn dark brown.
This tree is an evergreen tree growing 10-26m high with a dense canopy. It has smooth bark which is green becoming rough, scaly and brownish-grey. Trunk becomes massive and spreading at its base. The leaves reddish when young turning glossy bright green above and blue-grey beneath and three-veined from the base. Tiny yellowish or greenish-white flowers appear from September to November
